Why is World Teachers’ Day important? Your teacher plays a very important role in your life, instilling the right values in you, opening the doors to new horizons of knowledge, and helping to mould your character.
Therefore, in 1994, the United Nations decided to mobilize support for teachers and to ensure that the needs of future generations will continue to be met by teachers, by observing October 5th every year as World Teachers’ Day.
Over 100 countries observe this day annually, and the events include celebrations to honour teachers in general or those who have made a special contribution to a particular community.
Today, the world has realized that only good teachers can offer quality education, which, in turn, can offer a better standard of living for all.
