What is the significance of World Science Day for Peace and Development?
Science has changed our lives in extraordinary ways. At the same time, science can also be misused by those who want to create conflict, and trigger violence. So, it is important that nations be totally committed to using science only for the common good.
As the first step towards this goal, the first World Science Day for Peace and Development was celebrated worldwide on 10’h November 2002. Since then, it has been celebrated every year on this date to raise awareness of the benefits of science worldwide.
This day is an occasion to encourage nations to share the benefits of science and to renew the commitment to use science for the well-being of humanity.
