World Food Day

Why do we celebrate World Food Day?

The next time you sit down to a meal or push your plate away because you don’t like something on it, or waste your ‘ food, just remember the fact that there are an estimated 842 million hungry people on the planet.

To raise the issues leading to poverty and hunger, the United Nations observes October 16`” as World Food day.

It was on this day in 1945 that the Food and Agricultural Organization of the UN was founded.

World Food Day offers an opportunity to strengthen national and international solidarity in the fight to end hunger and malnutrition.
