Why Is World Anti-Corruption Day important?


 In simple terms, corruption occurs when a person misuses his or her authority for personal benefit, at the expense of other people. 


Corruption brings unfairness, crookedness, and, in more serious cases, can even harm lives and property.


 It slows down economic growth and makes governments unstable. 
The United Nations observes , December 9th as International Anti-Corruption Day to create awareness of the need to fight corruption at every level.

World Soil Day


Why do we celebrate World Soil Day? 


We all agree that we cannot live without food, but did you realize that there can be no life on Earth without soil? 


Soil provides support and nutrition to plants, including those that provide us with food, and soil that is rich in nutrients leads to healthy plants.


 However, despite the essential role that soil plays on this planet, it is often neglected and degraded. 



The United Nations has recognized the importance of soil and declared December 5th to be World Soil Day. 



This day is celebrated to highlight the fact that careful management of soil, backed up by research and development, is the foundation of agricultural production, and essential for the wellbeing not just of human beings but of the planet itself.

Why is World Television Day special? 


Television has changed our lives in so many ways that it is amazing. It entertains us, teaches us, broadens our horizons, and has broken geographical, linguistic, and cultural barriers.


 Television brings us news from every corner of the world instantly and focuses attention on the major issues facing the world with an urgency that produces results. 


It has become a symbol of communication in today’s world, and that is why the General Assembly of the United Nations has declared November 21. as World Television Day.

Why do we observe Universal Children’s Day?


 The future of the world lies in the hands of our children, and therefore, it is only right that there should be a special day declared for them. 


Children’s Day is celebrated on November 20th every year to promote international harmony and awareness among the children of the world
 In India, Children’s Day is celebrated on November 14th to coincide with the birthday of Pundit Nehru, India’s first Prime Minister, who had a special fondness for children. 


Children’s Day is an occasion to show children that they are valuable members of society and to remind everyone that children have rights that must be guaranteed, and that little one need love and respect to grow to their full potential.

World Science Day for Peace and Development


What is the significance of World Science Day for Peace and Development?



 Science has changed our lives in extraordinary ways. At the same time, science can also be misused by those who want to create conflict, and trigger violence. So, it is important that nations be totally committed to using science only for the common good.


 As the first step towards this goal, the first World Science Day for Peace and Development was celebrated worldwide on 10’h November 2002. Since then, it has been celebrated every year on this date to raise awareness of the benefits of science worldwide.


 This day is an occasion to encourage nations to share the benefits of science and to renew the commitment to use science for the well-being of humanity.

Why is October 24th a very special day? 




The United Nations celebrates many days, but 241″ October is special because this is its day! This day is observed as United Nations Day since 1948. 


The UN officially came into existence on 24th October 1945. The aim of the UN is to bring all nations of the world together to work for peace and development, on the basis of principles of equal justice, the human dignity, and the well-being of all people. 


United Nations Day is an occasion to explore, celebrate and reflect on the work of the United Nations and its agencies. On and on October 24th, many activities are organized by the UN, particularly in the main offices.





International Day for the Eradication of Poverty


Why is October 17′ an important date?





 Every day, people living in extreme poverty are challenged and threatened by want of food, shelter, and access to fundamental services. Steps must be taken to eradicate poverty, and awareness must be created of the need for these steps, and therein lies the importance of October 17th, which was declared by The United Nations to be the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty.


On this day people recognize the effort and struggle of people living in poverty, give them a chance to make their concerns heard, and encourage them to lead the charge against poverty .To support this fight against poverty we must create jobs, and nurture social protection system.


World Food Day


Why do we celebrate World Food Day?




 The next time you sit down to a meal or push your plate away because you don’t like something on it, or waste your ‘ food, just remember the fact that there are an estimated 842 million hungry people on the planet. 



To raise the issues leading to poverty and hunger, the United Nations observes October 16`” as World Food day.




 It was on this day in 1945 that the Food and Agricultural Organization of the UN was founded. 




World Food Day offers an opportunity to strengthen national and international solidarity in the fight to end hunger and malnutrition.

World Teachers’ Day


Why is World Teachers’ Day important? Your teacher plays a very important role in your life, instilling the right values in you, opening the doors to new horizons of knowledge, and helping to mould your character. 




Therefore, in 1994, the United Nations decided to mobilize support for teachers and to ensure that the needs of future generations will continue to be met by teachers, by observing October 5th every year as World Teachers’ Day. 


Over 100 countries observe this day annually, and the events include celebrations to honour teachers in general or those who have made a special contribution to a particular community. 



Today, the world has realized that only good teachers can offer quality education, which, in turn, can offer a better standard of living for all. 


International Day of the Girl Child


When is the International Day of the Girl Child celebrated?
In many places in the world, girls are not treated equally with boys. Girls have to face many challenges in society including violence and discrimination.


 The United Nations took an important step to put an end to such injustice when it declared 11th October as the International Day of the Girl Child. This day focuses on the challenges faced by girls and highlights their rights.



This day is very important because there is still a tremendous amount of work to be done to ensure that receive the same opportunity in education and that each is empowered to believe that she is Part of the next generation of change makers.
