Raksha Bandhan

                                       Raksha Bandhan

‘Raksha Bandhan’ or ‘rakhi utsav’ is the knot of love and protection between sisters and brothers all over the world. On this festival usually sisters tie a sacred thread or rakhi on the waist of a brother. It is a symbol of love to the brother and also it is a prayer for the well being of the brother. It also symbolizes that the brother will protect the sister always. The meaning of the word ‘raksha bandhan’ in Sanskrit Language is the ‘protection bond’.
Rakhi is mainly a festival of the Hindu people but it is now celebrated among all religions around the globe.

Social bond for universal harmony and brotherhood………..
Rakhi not only symbolizes a bond between a brother and a sister. It also inspires universal brotherhood. It brings harmony in our society also. Rabindranath Tagore, the famous Indian poet and Nobel Prize winner popularized this festival as a symbol of love and unity between Hindu and Muslim community and in the broader sense between all the communities of the world.

                        Historical background of rakhi….

In ancient India the queens of Maratha and queens of Rajput used to send rachis to the kings of Mughal. The Mughal emperors used to accept the sacred offerings and also used to offer help in return.

                       Stories connected to rakhi…..
There are several interesting stories related to raksha bandhan. There is a famous story of Mughal emperor Humayun and Rani of Chittorgarh Karnavati. Bahadurshah once attacked Chittorgarh. At that time it was impossible for Karnavati, the widowed Rani to protect Chittorgarh from the strong attack of king Bahadurshah. Then Rani Karnavati sent a sacred rakhi to Humayun, the Mughal Empire and requested him to protect her and to protect Chittorgarh.

The Mughal Emperor Humayun was impressed by the sacred emotion of rakhi. Along with the mighty Mughal force Humayun rushed to save Rani Karnavati and her kingdom Chittorgarh. It was a pity that Humayun could not protect the life of Rani Karnavati because it was a bit late. Bahadurshah arrived before Humayun. Rani Karnavati and all her women companions of Chittorgarh committed suicide to save their honour. But Humayun protected Chittorgarh from Bahadurshah. Humayun handed the throne of Chittorgarh to Vikramjeet Singh, the son of Rani Karnavati.

Story of Goddess Lakshmi and king Bali…..

There is a story in Purana. Vishnu defeated Bali, the demon king and became the winner of the three worlds. The demon king Bali requested Vishnu to live with him. Vishnu accepted his request. But Goddess Lakshmi was not at all happy with the new friendship of king Bali and his husband Vishnu. And she was also not interested in to stay in Bali’s palace with his husband. Lakshmi tied a sacred thread of Rakhi on the wrist of Bali and in this way made Bali her brother. Bali in return asked Lakshmi ‘what Lakshmi wants as a gift from his newly made brother’. Lakshmi requested Bali to free his husband God Vishnu from the promise of staying in Bali’s palace. Bali fulfilled her desire and also honored Lakshmi as his sister.

                      Story of Draupadi and Krishna…..

In Mahabharata Lord Krishna treated Draupadi as sister.  Lord Krishna once cut a finger in fight with Sishupal. Draupadi at once bandaged the cut by tearing off his own sari. Krishna in return promised to repay this act of love. Whenever Draupadi needed help she prayed for the help to Lord Krishna and Krishna also always rescued her. In the story of the great epic Mahabharata we see Draupadi to tie a Rakhi to Lord Krishna and we see Kunti tied a Rakhi to Avimunya, her, her grandson, just before the war of Kurukshkhetra.

Story of King Puru and Alexander……

There is a story that when King Alexander was invading India, his wife Roxana sent the sacred thread of Rakhi to king Puru and requested him not to hurt Alexander in battlefield.  King Puru respected the sacred tradition. On the Warfield just before delivering the final blow to King Alexander he restrained himself when he saw the sacred Rakhi on his own hand.

Different people take spirituality in different perspectives. Some people take it as a participation in a particular religion, joining a church, to be attached with mosque or gurudwara. Some people take spirituality as a personal matter. It is being in touch with own divine self. They pray, meditate, practice yoga or quietly reflect their inner feelings.

Spirituality reveals that we are not simply physical body. We are spiritual being. We are not bound to any particular race, community, religion, family, social status, job, service in our life. We are greater than all this material things.
When we think of ourselves as a spiritual or divine being we become filled with enormous divine energy. We feel spontaneous energetic and inspired. On the other hand when this spiritual energy leaves from our physical body we become useless. Our physical existence expires.
Religion and spirituality are different things. Religion is bound within a particular group, community or culture. Every religion is quite different from another religion in their customs, rules and way of life.
There is often a misconception about spirituality and religion. Spirituality  means mostly a personal or individual experience, searching the meaning and purpose of life. On the other hand religion is a set of particular practices as rules which are practiced and followed by the particular group or community.
Spirituality defines us our way of life, the purpose of our life.
Spirituality teaches us the extreme and deepest meaning of life. It explains who we originally are and how should we live our life. Spirituality is just like planting a seed which grows slowly with the time and experiences of everyday life. Spirituality is very often explained as a closer connection with the God or connection with the divine energy of the universe. Spirituality is the connection, both with the divine almighty and also relation with our own divine self.

Spirituality is allowing ourselves to be completely filled with the divine inspiration and energy and to transform that energy into joy, knowledge, wisdom, love, bliss, peacefulness and into all the divine virtues. Spirituality helps us to connect with the all profound and most powerful divine energy of the universe. This energy helps us even our worldly achievement or success, our in stabilizing our own peace of mind. We become enlightened by the awareness of this spiritual knowledge. It gives us the inspiration and energy to win our goal of life and makes our life successful.

If we look into our life with a materialistic approach we see that it is very temporary and it will perish one day into dust.

If we look deep into our life with a spiritual approach then it will become a profound, eternal journey.

On the other hand spirituality is not bound to any religion. It is beyond all the religions but inside spirituality there is all religion merged. Spirituality has no conflict with any religion. Spirituality is connecting with our own divine self.

To some people spirituality is a divine path of making our lives happy and peaceful. To some yoga is a part of spiritual practice. Through yoga or connection with the almighty God we can get rid of the tension and anxiety of our life. We can release our negative emotion and filled ourselves with the pure positive vibration of the divine universe.

Spirituality says that we are the part of the all powerful divine source of energy. We are the son of almighty God. As God is the ocean of love. We are also filled with divine unconditional love. And our purpose of life is to share this divine love to the world. We are not physical being. We are actually the divine being. We are not dependent on any material objects or things.

Origami learning

It’s mind blowing to watch a conventional bit of paper changing into a three dimensional structure, and the more intricate the configuration, the more inconceivable this procedure gets to be…
Origami is an art.  ‘Ori’- means folding, ‘kami’ means paper. Gami comes from kami. It is the paper folding technique. It is originally related to the culture of Japan. IN China there is a tradition of burning origami on funeral.

What’s more, incidentally, it’s all free.

Paper-collapsing is a magnificent interest, and a sublime gathering action… what’s more, for children it has such a variety of advantages socially and for the creating personality, yet I simply adore it in light of the fact that you get the chance to make cool stuff – with just a sheet of paper!

It is a great joy while transforming a simple paper piece into different attracting thins like flower, animal, box, container, airplanes, jewelry, crafts, ornaments, trees and many more things.

When an origami is completed by our hard effort our faces flourish with great smile. The process of origami is very easy one. It is not a costly matter. It gives us a great pleasure when we share it with others. The modern time is advancing technologically every day, but origami still gives us the same pleasure and it will give the same always.

Independence Day India

                                       Independence Day India 2015

69 th independence day

The Indian people observe Independence Day on 15th August every year. They celebrate their freedom from the bondage of British Empire. The first Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru raised the National Flag of India on the Red Fort, New Delhi. Then it became a tradition for Indian people that every year the existing Indian Prime Minister raises The National Flag of India on the red Fort, New Delhi and also gives a speech for the Nation.

The whole Indian people celebrate the day. Every school, college, government office observe the day. Flag-hosting ceremonies are organised throughout the country. On every club, every organisation, on the street, on every home Indian Independence is observed. Parades are seen on the road. Cultural programmes are organised. Every vehicles of the country displays  National Flag on their vehicles. Patriotic songs are played throughout the country, in every corner of life. Patriotic films are shown on various television channels. The Indian people pay their tribute to the martyrs of Indian national movement. The Indian National Anthem ‘jana gana Mana’ is played on every function of Independence Day.
The battle for India’s Independence started in 1857 with the ‘Sepoy Mutiny’ in Meerut. Later, in the twentieth century, the Indian National Congress and other political associations, under the initiative of Mahatma Gandhi, dispatched a countrywide autonomy development. Provincial forces were exchanged to India on August 15, 1947.

The Constituent Assembly, to who rule was to be exchanged, met to observe India’s freedom at 11pm on August 14, 1947. India picked up its freedom and turned into a free nation at midnight between August 14 and August 15, 1947. It was then that the free India’s first head administrator Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru gave his celebrated “Tryst with Destiny” discourse. Individuals crosswise over India are helped to remember the significance of this occasion – that it denoted the beginning of another period of deliverance from the British rule that occurred in India for over 200 years.
The game of kite flying symbolizes Independence Day. The skies are spotted with endless kites flown from housetops and fields to symbolize India’s free soul of India. Kites of different styles, sizes and shades, including the tricolor are accessible in the commercial centers. The Red Fort in Dehli is likewise an essential Independence Day image in India as it is the place Indian Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru divulged India’s banner on August 15, 1947.

India’s national banner is a level tricolor of profound saffron (kesaria) at the top, white in the center and dim green at the base in equivalent extent. The proportion of the banner’s width to its length is a few. A naval force blue wheel in the focal point of the white band speaks to the chakra. Its outline is that of the wheel which shows up on the math device of the Sarnath Lion Capital of Ashoka. Its distance across approximates to the white band’s width and it has 24 spokes.

This year (2015) is the 69th anniversary of Indian Independence. Google   is honouring this day. They display a theme on  ‘google doodle’ which depicts The Great national movement of India in 1930. It is the ‘salt satyagraha’ campaign or ‘Dandi  march’ on the leadership of mahatma Gandhi. It is also known as the Civil Disobedience Movement.
